I just LOVE arm balances and I’m so excited to share my passion with you! As with all yoga poses I had to start from the beginning and this is where we’re going to begin your journey into exploring how arm balances can feel so incredibly liberating.
Arm balances may seem and even feel scary but by creating a solid foundation and understanding the concepts of strength, balance, and stability you can begin to develop self-confidence, trust and the ability to evolve your practice.
These may look like cool poses that you see on social media, however, when you can understand an arm balance you can start to push the boundaries of your practice as well as your everyday life by overcoming fear, building trust in yourself and connecting deeply to your inner self.
We first look at the philosophy of arm balances - what are they and what do they mean in our practice. Followed by looking deeply at the structural anatomy of key arm balances from where we can begin to build up to more progressive variations of arm balances. The use of props like blocks, bricks, and straps can also be a fantastic way to help you understand the feeling and technique of getting that all-important lift-off into your balance.
Part of this workshop will be lecture based allowing you to take time to look deeply at the fundamentals of what makes an arm balance. We will also be exploring physically through a vinyasa flow designed to awaken your connection to your core, building strength and flexibility and understanding your pivot point in preparation for working with primary arm balances, crow, crane and for those who are ready, eight-angle pose and possibly Firefly.
