During this course we will learn and practice a series of yoga postures (asanas) that rejuvenate the body and better both your physical and mental wellbeing.
Different asanas correspond to strengthening and stretching various muscles throughout the body, ultimately preparing us for seated meditation. We will investigate both contra and counter indications of each of the basic postures
We will also study and practice traditional breathing techniques (Pranyama) such as full yogic breath, alternate nostril breathing and kapalbhati. Pranyama exercises elevate the body’s state of being and directs the flow of energy throughout the body. The breathing exercises promote both physical and mental benefits such as decreased breathing rate, removal of stale air and toxins, and generally calming the mind.
This course will give you a basic understanding of both the philosophical and practical aspects of yoga preparing you for a life long stable yoga practice, both in a studio or at home.
