For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to yoga – although my journey officially began in my late teens at a body balance class!
Sometime around my mid-twenties, I began to struggle with anxiety. I tried to ignore it, but it only seemed to get louder as I got older. Yoga was one of the only things that seemed to help, so my interest began to deepen. I found a wonderful teacher who opened my eyes to the true transformative power of the practice. I began to explore the other aspects of yoga, beyond the physical practice that we know in the West.
By the start of 2016 however, I had reached a breaking point. I was exhausted and miserable, worn down by a busy, stressful job in London and a three hour daily commute. I felt overwhelmed constantly and spent most of my time obsessively worrying about one thing or another. I knew something had to change.
In June, I quit full-time employment and headed to Rishikesh, India to dive headfirst into yoga teacher training – something that had been calling out to me. It was one of the most challenging yet intensely rewarding experiences of my life. Now, I teach yoga for a living, and help people to develop a practice that serves them as much as my own practice has served me over the years.
My mission is to ‘demystify’ yoga and make it accessible to as many people as possible. In this crazy, stressful world we live in, we need the teachings of yoga now more than ever. By stepping onto the mat, you open the door to a healthier, happier, calmer life – and really, who doesn’t want that?!
Namaste - and I look forward to seeing you on the mat :)
