Meditation & Kirtan evening

This is a practice for everyone whether you practice asana (yoga postures) or not. Come to express yourself through kirtan or simply enjoy the vibrations and sounds of the ancient chants.

Program

We will start the evening with a short meditation allowing the group to settle and connect to a nice silence. After the meditation Josh will give a short explanation on what Kirtan is and how to perform a traditional kirtan and mantra meditation. We will chant for around 30 minutes and then end with readings and discussion from the yoga scriptures. In yoga these sessions are typically known as - Satsang

A little more about Kirtan…

Kirtan is an ancient practice of yoga performed to open the heart and devote your thoughts towards the divine or supreme consciousness, typically chanted in the ancient language - Sanskrit. It is a practice that brings great joy and elevates the mood quickly. It’s important to know kirtan doesn’t have to be religious, you can relate to the practice in your own way, maybe thinking of it as a sing along or hymn.  

The singing or chanting of Kirtan is not about how the voice sounds but more importantly it's about the merging of voices as one, gently bringing a state of meditation.

Prepare for your workshop

No need to bring any equipment.  Just bring yourself and wear loose/flexible clothing warm clothing. 

Please arrive 10 minutes before the workshop starts so that we can show you around and complete a short contact form.

 

Who's josh?

After leaving my first yoga class  at the age of 16 and stepping into the car I knew that there was something special and life changing about to happen. 

 A few months later I found myself signing up for a yoga teacher training, excited to begin my deeper enquiry into yoga. The course I completed barely scratched the surface and all I wanted was to learn more. The course did allowed me to come into contact with the man I call to even now my teacher - Conrad Paul. He inspired me with his light and love to take my practice further and go to India and complete a teacher training with the traditional yoga school - Sivananda yoga vedanta. 

With a strong desire to learn more about yoga I followed his advice and went to India. I studied Vedanta, Pranayama, Asana, Dhyana and Bhakti  yoga over the course of 4 weeks and they were the most life changing weeks so far in my life.  I  am now back in my home town after living for many months in the Sivananda centre in London and France and am here to share with you all that I have learnt and accessed so far  to serve the local community with the knowledge and experiences of yoga that I have accessed so far.

 


CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel a workshop/event/course up to 5 days before class. If you early cancel, you get a full refund.

Cancelling a workshop/event/course within 5 days or failing to attend a booked workshop/event/course is non-refundable. You may pass a booking onto a friend at no extra cost, however we must be notified of the change by email if a friend will attend in your place.
