I am studying Bowtech- the Original Bowen Technique, developed by the late Tom Bowen from Australia. I believe this will be very complimentary to my teaching as a fully qualified L3VTCT Pilates instructor.
Bowen is a holistic, gentle, hands on therapy that stimulates the autonomic nervous system to shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic. This enables the body to rest, relax and switch on to repair mode. A session involves one or more procedures made up of sets of “moves”. Between each set of moves there are pauses for the body to begin responding. It does so holistically by using the body’s innate healing mechanisms. The practitioner delivers signals to the nervous system at specific locations- muscles, ligaments, tendons or nerves and the body does the rest, responding in its own time, as it is able. The Bowen technique is appropriate to use for individuals of all ages, including babies, and in all degrees of health.
Because the technique is so effective, it has been widely embraced by a broad spectrum of people. Health professionals are impressed by the effectiveness of the Bowen technique and the diversity of problems addressed by it.
Bowtech can assist recovery from many conditions from traumatic injury – chronic illnesses, depending upon each individual’s capacity to heal.
Some conditions that often respond favourably to Bowen work are:-
Back pain/ sciatica
Digestive and bowel problems
Ear ache and TMJ problems
Migraines and other types of headaches
Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome
Hip, knee, ankle and foot problems
Menstrual and hormonal irregularities
Neck and shoulder problems ( including frozen shoulder)
Groin pain, pelvic tilt and uneven leg length
Respiratory problems and hay fever
Repetitive strain injury, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow
Sports and other traumatic injuries
